@mwobith I book the ticket to my destination and usually never anything else. I like to research online before I go and wing it when I get there. I usually meet people and find the best options for exploring after I arrive, compared to what I'd find online beforehand.

Instagram pictures are quite fake and you might end up being disapointed :) I watch a lot of documentaries and I'm part of some travel groups. That's mainly where I get my inspirations.

I really liked travel shows like Globe Trekker and Rick Steve's Europe. Now, I watch smaller scale shows and influencers on YouTube like Strictly Dumpling or Korean Englishman. I like to build my travel experiences around food, culture, music and art/museums without getting sucked into tourist traps (or experience them during off peak times). Those channels are a great resource for showing those because the influencer enmeshes themself in the country and culture.

@mwobith In the "before times", lol, I would plan the accommodations with a small group of friends, usually AirBnB if we traveled internationally or nice hotels in the states. For solo trips I'd usually find good deals for nice hotels in like a downtown district or central area (usually when there are a lot of hotels in one area the pricing tends to be affordable/competitive for the accommodations & security) because it's an area that would be easy to get back to no matter how far I strayed, and it's usually surrounded by convenience stores which helps if you forget something in a pinch, and central to public transit or Uber/Lyft pickup/drop off spots. Next, I'd make a loose guide for what I wanted to experience. For example, the first day of exploring would be the arts district, next day museums and a sporting event or some form of entertainment. Then do those things either solo or with friends who were interested. I'm not a regimented scheduled person so I'd keep times loose in case I changed my mind or came across something cool/unexpected. If I saw something cool on a travel or eating show I would plan to see it or eat there, I'd also check out Yelp or Google Maps for inspiration to visit an area or particular restaurant or attraction. I use Kayak to price hunt. I ask locals who are outside of the city center, or people I know who have visited the area previously about things to do/see. Usually get better recommendations from them because no one wants their special place overrun by tourists, lol.
