9 interesting insights about no-code and the future of software development

I have been working on NotionApps - a no-code tool to build apps from Notion. These are some of the things I learned about the no-code space while working on it. Current app builders are built on productivity 1.0 tools like Google Sheets. There is a need for app builders built on productivity 2.0 tools like Notion, and Airtable. 2. App building is still predominantly led by developers because low-code tools like Bubble, Flutterflow are more popular than no-code tools
 3. Finding the right software is tedious for a non-technical user. Software discovery takes as much time as software development (sometimes more). 4. There will be more non-technical “developers” when a tool solves both software discovery + software development 5. Non-technical users sometimes need hand-holding when building, or even an expert to build it on their behalf 
 6. A good no-code/low-code expert does not just help use the tool(s) but also brings domain, process, and problem-solving expertise to the table.
 7. Existing no-code tools are not designed to build apps on both structured data (in spreadsheets or databases) and unstructured data (in docs or pages). They are made only for structured data.
 8. We did not come across any strong reason to incorporate AI into the product yet. The tool’s point-and-click interface is simple and “intelligent” enough to build apps in minutes.
 9. Data migration is tedious, it is ideal if the app is integrated into existing sources of business data. What are your thoughts about the future of software development?
