Any ideas on how I can fill the site with content? A unique situation.

Hey all! I built an open & free search engine / directory of free apps, tools, and resources. It's a project with a community approach, totally free & open to guests, and I bit struggle to fill the site with content myself. Any ideas on how I can encourage people to add items using a submission form? Maybe other ideas?

You can find many communities of people designing those tools and post your directory there. You're essentially giving these people an easy way of self promoting, so it's very likely they'll take it. For example, posting it here or on indiehackeres, or on certain subreddits. Slack and telegram groups are also quite useful. Btw, do you have a link to it? I'm currently developing an AI API for developers and would love to have it on your site.

@richard_gao2 Yes, I guess you're right. I'll start looking for relevant communities to post. And I'm really glad you liked the design. I worked hard on it.

@richard_gao2 Thanks for your answer! Communities were my first thought, but I'm afraid many of them consider such posts as self promotion and spam. I guess I'll have to publish a few posts and see how they're received. The site is in beta, and I haven't officially launched it yet- mrfreetools.com If you are already there, I would appreciate any feedback, Also your thoughts on the submission form- mrfreetools.com/submit-a-tool

@amitb I think it depends on the community. The communities that a already have a bunch of self promoters are more than willing to find any place to promote their products, and you certainly won't be punished for self promoting there :) Also, I think the site has excellent design. Better than most I've seen
