    Yes, but be careful with the text of your anchor and what page your link targets. Basically, if you're a food startup and you've got a screw design company linking to your page on their own website, it's not great. But if it's a restaurant, you've got a lot more power. Regarding the page chosen for the redirect: The vast majority of the time, it's your home page that will be redirected to. But if you regularly request redirection to your pillar pages, they'll gain in popularity and therefore be better referenced.

    Backlinks do help with trustworthiness. So, yeah, Search Engines do factor them in for SEO.

    here is the thing with backlinks: they are needed if you are looking to rank for content with high competition. But if you are targeting low competition keywords, then backlinks are not necessary to rank. The competition of the keywords can be determined with all sorts of fancy metrics but honestly looking at the traffic of the sites ranking for that keyword is your best indicator.
