Are you going to get Twitter Blue?

Elon Musk just tweeted "Starting April 15th, only verified accounts will be eligible to be in For You recommendations."
There's more to the tweet, but basically this is to address AI bots, voting in polls will also require verification.
I haven't been using Twitter, haven't ever been super active on. BUT, I have been debating using it and this definitely seems like a deterrent for many who don't want to pay to be recommended.
I'm still on the fence - but what about you? I imagine if you're active on Twitter and it's a valuable marketing tool already that this is a no-brainer.

Knowing what he did to employees I cancelled twitter for good.

@helendomina Was this a marketing channel you were using previously? Or was it primarily a personal use type of app?

Sadly might have to invest in it now....

@maxwellcdavis I think a lot of people might be ushered into this as well.
Not sure, I couldn't care less about all the drama surrounding it, I just want a nice platform with quality people.
Is Twitter that nice platform?
Ehh...

@chris_sarca The more I'm hearing about the drama the less I want it

Have you been on Facebook recently? I left years ago and just created one a few months ago to create a Facebook page for my business-- nothing but spam and bots messaging me all day and sending me friend requests. if I could pay $5 or whatever to stop that from happening or knowing 100% I'm not being spammed or losing the occasional real outreach message I would.

@carter_barnett how are Facebook ads doing for you? For me boosting instagram content is way better— and if the spam on Facebook I’ve seen is the majority of users it makes sense. I would probably stick with TikTok for outreach if your target is gen z. But now I’m rambling.
If you look past politics. It’s really a marketing job to switch the conversation as “we are implementing this to verify that the users who’s comments you see aren’t bots, or spam.” or hot girls in your local area lol
So I think once this dies down and twitter moves past musk ppl will be more open to that kinda marketing of the blue check mark.

@lvledup Haven't run ads in a bit of time and when I did they were bad but better than Google. However, in April I'll be running ads for Vetted and am hoping that does a lot better as the age range will be 25+
I definitely think you're right about a heavy placement of the anti-check part being on Musk. Definitely interested to see if it sticks!

@mansi_trivedi1 Yeah the tick aspect definitely lost it's meaning. Wonder if an additional marking would've been better?
