Beginner SEO Mistakes I wish I had avoided when I was starting out

Hey everybody, SEO is quite a complex topic, and I've been at it for some years now. There are a few mistakes that I kept making such as: 1. Not including the right header tags (sometimes not including them at all) 2. Totally ignoring the blog section (it's the secret SEO superpower if used properly) 3. Buying links that only hurt my sites (I realized relevance mattered more than almost any metric) Here's a recent video I made, that cover all of these (and more) quite in depth: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lD5tsKkKen4 Hope this helps all of you getting started. Goodluck!!! BTW feel free to add any SEO questions in the comments πŸ™ we're all here to help.

What do you mean by "right header tags", Jaume?
Anna Kuzma
@jaume_ros2 thank you! One more question... Should H1=title?
Jaume Ros
@kuzmanna Hey Anna, Great question. We want to make sure that we have the right structure for all of our pages and blog posts. The general rule is you should only have one h1 per page - this gives google a really clear message of the main idea of that page/post. You then have a hierarchy of headings that allows google to understand the different sections of content and their importance. You can read about this more here: https://www.contentkingapp.com/a... I'd scroll down to the section "Heading hierarchy" that's the most important point. Goodluck Anna πŸš€

Agree with all your points, and they're relatable too. As a rookie, I made the mistake of over-stressing on Keyword Density (KD). Using core keywords is important, but there's no point in winding yourself up by calculating the number of times you have repeated a keyword in your content. Write meaningful, well-researched and helpful content. Use the keywords naturally, and let the search engine do the remaining magic.

Not using any note-taking tools like Qinaps as i wasnt able to keep any records of keywords and text to match synchronously

Totally true. When building websites, you have to build proper architecture and page hierarchy must be on point. All the spiders have a certain way of how they read and understand your content. Most important I think is page hierarchy. If you get that right, you're on a good path. And what I mean by the hierarchy is H1 / H2 / H3 / H4 many people don't really understand how to properly structure the page and that's where they fail and google don't understand what is important on the indexed page. So before you build something guys, make sure you understand the basic concepts first! It's not very difficult to be fair. For me most challenging is external SEO, getting those good quality links.
