Business Marketing with Nika

I like Product Hunt and social media/marketing in general BUT I try to be on many fronts in offline life too.
What other activities in your life do you find fulfilling? π
For me, it is:
β
Sport β I have made it a habit (it needs to be in my day)
β
Learning languages β same as the above
β
Photography
β
Attending cultural/educational events
Maybe I'll take inspiration from your list of hobbies and find a new one, so let's go for it. π

@busmark_w_nika I have traveled to Japan, South Korea, Turkey, Indonesia, France, Italy, Vatican City, Austria, Hungary, and Switzerland. My hometown is in China, but I currently reside in the United States.
The countries I particularly enjoy traveling to are Switzerland, Japan, and South Korea.
However, I would prefer to travel in China because the cost of living is lower, the public security situation is good, and the hotel service is far better than in the United States.
For hiking and road trips, I would prefer the United States because it is more convenient to drive here and there are fewer tourists compared to China.
How does one become a product hunt nerd, am relatively new here :)
I am also learning language, photography I loved most but I do it only when i am in my hometown, I like cycling but I do not have a cycle right now. I don't follow most of my hobbies.
what language you're learning. @busmark_w_nika
@busmark_w_nika why do you want to learn German?
@busmark_w_nika that's relevant.

Sport (running, hiking, I also want to learn climbing)
Philosophy (epistemology, metaphysics, ethics) and science
And programming is also a hobby of course.

@busmark_w_nika I don't have one favourite philosopher. I see philosophy "as a science": What really matters are the ideas and the reasons for them, not who had them first or how they are stated.
But here are some philosophers with very important ideas: Kant, Thomas Nagel, Derek Parfit, Peter Singer.
Kant will be the most difficult to read (and I didn't yet read much from him myself), but you could start with Nagel (https://www.amazon.com/What-Does..., https://www.amazon.com/Mortal-Qu...), Parfit (https://www.amazon.com/Reasons-P...), Singer (https://www.givingwhatwecan.org/..., https://www.amazon.com/Practical...)

@busmark_w_nika Futurism is very interesting and important of course. Didn't read anything from Toffler, but Hans Moravec and Ray Kurzweil (they have a very positive view)
App Finder
@busmark_w_nika You think they will come true?

@busmark_w_nika There are clearly very great dangers, yes. And the more people think about what could go wrong the better.
Launching soon!
That's a diverse range of hobbies you've got there! It's like having a virtual Swiss Army knife of interests. If you ever need a teammate for your sports adventures or a language practice buddy, count me in! Who knows, we might uncover the next big thing while capturing moments with your photography skills at cultural events. Time to add some more colors to our hobby palette!
@busmark_w_nika I like reading a real overcoming-an-obstacle story for books detailing about one specific skill I want to learn more about. Here are some:
The Cold Start Problem, Andrew Chen.
- A must read for anyone who is building a product requiring multiple users to interact with one another in some way. Uber, tinder, etc.
The Hard Thing about Hard Things, Ben Horowitz.
- The difficult obstacles Ben has been through as CEO of LoudCloud. Had to in lay off many early employees (50%?). He's been through hell and back, dozens of times.
The Lean Startup, Eric Riles.
- Must read for anyone interested in building a startup or passionate about making money from a project. Restructure the way you think about business. You don't make a 12 paged business plan with just your intuition.
Martial arts - BJJ/Muay Thai right now.
Dance - West coast Swing (competed when I was younger, now it's just recreation haha)

@busmark_w_nika I can relate to all of your answers, which kind of sport do you practice regularly?
For me, the biggest fulfilling hobby is
π Sport (Crossfit, running, swimming and Yoga, I will never say no to any sport event)
π§ββοΈ Sauna (Yes, I have a Sauna membership :D)
πΉ Music - playing piano or listening to some of my Vinyl collections
βοΈ Not very often anymore, but I LOVE travelling and exploring different cultures, getting to know locals from other countries and trying to pick up their language.
@busmark_w_nika For movies, Christopher Nolan's ones. I recently read and loved The 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene.
@busmark_w_nika read alllllllll the comments here and literally felt so good. Never thought learning about others' hobbies could be so mind relaxing and feel-good thing.
@busmark_w_nika dayuuummmmmmm, sameeeeee, capoeira it is :D
@busmark_w_nika I want to learn Martial Arts now :D
@busmark_w_nika mmmm talking about my hobbies, I have recently discovered my love and passion for thrillers (movies/books anything). Other than that, I lovvvveeee reading books (inspirational, romantic, philosophical). I do painting as well and usually forget the track of time when I am doing one. Mmmmmm, I cant spend a day without walk. I have a special place for badminton in my heart and becomes very enthusiastic whenever I get a chance to play it.
@busmark_w_nika mostly thrillers and sometimes horror :D
I practice martial arts, play guitar and am passionate about tropical aquariums.
I am actually also into photography, but limited time has forced me to settle for taking just a few creative shots with my smartphone
@busmark_w_nika It's a little unconventional: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ba...
:)
@busmark_w_nika It's been around five years now. You can see it as one of the many forms of Kung-Fu. Many of the 'westernised' martial arts are nothing more than simplifications of much more complex martial forms.
In ancient times, almost every Oriental family had its own distinctive martial form, which was passed down from generation to generation. When the martial arts were then westernised, what was imported was merely a simplification of what the martial arts originally were.
In addition, it must be said that martial arts were often practised not only as a fighting style, but also in the form of gymnastics and meditation. Unfortunately, much of this lineage has been lost, at least by us.
Baguazhang for example is a martial form that studies the circularity of movements and the psychophysical balance of its practitioner. Different forms focus on different aspects. If you think, for example, of Shaolin monks, we simplistically say that they practise Kung Fu, but in reality they then decline it in different forms, with different styles and with different aims
I love the photography
Aside from being a gym rat, I love cool niche tech products that are so random but solve a very peculiar problem. From this, you can also tell that I'm a tech nerd. Also, I enjoy playing video games. If you want to experience some of the best stories told through this medium, you have to try out RDR2, Ghost of Tsushima, and God of War. And, multiplayer games like Halo, Minecraft, and CSGO are a lot of fun to play with friends.

@creative_nemo @busmark_w_nika same! Very interesting hobbies.
Music - I'm on SoundCloud, running. I code as a hobby as well, even though its my job π€
@busmark_w_nika Soundcloud is better geared towards independant and unsigned artists, you get better exposure. Spotify only cares about already established artists.
I get more listens on Soundcloud.
@busmark_w_nika Haha, wouldn't that be nice! Unfortunately, because of the business models of streaming services, its become pretty difficult to 1) become established as an artist - even if you're good and 2) make money from your music. The streaming services have convinced the world that music should be free, and they only care about established artists. With music being free, even the streaming services don't make a lot - Spotify were posting losses up until this year.
However, this is set to change - NFT-based services are being launched so that users will have to pay for music. Spotify's days are numbered.
I'm also working on a music app that aims at giving a platform to yet-to-be established artists, which I plan on launching this year - after I get Passkeyme up and running ;})
