This is good advice. I'd also add that if you're just starting out, you have to do a lot of stuff that doesn't scale but it's necessary to get to your first 1, 10 or 100 users. Reddit, for example, has been amazing for us with all of our projects if you find relevant conversations, engage and plug your product where it makes sense. Surfkey.io by @johancutych is awesome for this use case.
