I have nothing else to add besides what others have already said. Just that it takes a LONG time and you're gonna have to put in many hours if you want results.

I think don't just promote your content. Engage with the community, participate in discussions, ask questions and provide value. Make sure the content you post is relevant to the subforums where you are. Irrelevant content may be downvoted or removed. And post at the right time to get as many views as possible.
