Can just about anyone become a Sales Person?

We all get it: selling what you do can be crucial for your company. But can anyone do it? Personally, I do not find it hard at all to talk about our product but being pushy is not a character trait of mine which potentially means a lost deal. What do you think?

@jovana_ugrinic Sales could happen based on two things: - How well do you understand customer's pain (empathy) - How well do you know when/where to connect and what to talk (again empathy) When the conversation happens with those in mind, I think there is a better chance of a sale. Also, I don't think being pushy works in the time we live in.

It's something I've been thinking about many times this year :D I think some people have a natural advantage at this, I'm not really comfortable trying to convince people and all. Also I think being pushy isn't really needed but being curious and open moves the needle. But I also believe that the right messaging and the right solution helps sales the best, so at the end of the day, you might not need to move out of your comfort zone to sell your solution, you just have to be present for someone and make it easy for your future clients to make the decision to choose your solution

Nope, definitely not everyone. Being a sales person requires a set of pretty specific skills. Just like with many other talents: someone excels at it while others just can't grasp it. And that's totally ok.

If your passionate about something, I think that excitement can transfer over to others and encourage or create curiosity for what your selling; a product, an idea, a theory, a tech. That being said, it also depends on the seller/inventor/company's knowledge of the product subject and tech that drives it. It's one thing to get excited about a product, but an another to know the product subject matter inside and out, so when potential buyer curiosity kicks in, the answers are available to satisfy it.
