I've built countless web products for my clients. I tried releasing a product many years ago but failed because of changes with dependencies. Now I'm considering releasing a product or two on ProductHunt. Any advice you can offer me and others who are now starting out?

Build your audience and your product simultaneously. It's the best shortcut to Product/Market fit

@timnoetzel Hey Tim, that's great advice. I gather you mean, build an audience specifically interested in the product you are creating, and exposing the build process as the content to attract those people.

@anwar_b_ Exactly. Use the audience to test your value prop, marketing, etc. But also start growing now so you have customers *waiting* for your product when you're ready. You should be building an audience as soon as you start working on the *idea*... well before even the MVP or the landing page is ready.

You should focus on personal growth and development. Seek out opportunities to connect with like-minded individuals.

    1. Build your product in public 2. Focus on the problem you are solving more than the tech stack or fancy features 3. Launch on Product Hunt and get feedback 4. If your launch fails, don't worry, launch it again.

Be active on product hunt, and once people contact you on Linkedin about supporting their product, then you should support it. They'll support you back when you launch. You can see my recent launch as an example.

Your first step is to validate your idea. For this, you need an audience of enthusiastic folks. Sell before building your product.
