Chat bots are dying

Just wanted to post my experience here. I started off in digital marketing as a chat bot developer. That's basically someone who designs conversational pieces around a campaign related to your product or service with platforms that allow you to link different conversation blocks one after the other. When I started out, it was fun and incredibly easy to do - simply link a conversation one after the other while trying to give your respondent a few button options to choose from. In fact, I gained a lot of clients just creating chat bots. It was easy to manage, you can plug it in to your campaign and it would manage it 24/7 even while you're asleep. It was a terrific pitch and customers couldn't get enough of it. Fast forward to 2022 and all it is right now is an annoying conversation block for people to reach out to actual people who can affect their accounts. I think chat bots are a bit early for their purpose now and I've gotten off it after doing it for so long. There's still the inability to clearly decipher the intent of the customer and what you end up with is a confusing series of responses, all of which do not relate to their concern. And the end result is them calling customer service.
