ChatGPT goes paid today, do you foresee large companies building better alternatives?

Nearly after 50 days since its launch, ChatGPT announced a paid plan that is $42/ month that works even when the demand is high. The pricing is more than double that what I was expecting. Do you think this also gives the opportunity for large companies to work on or release alternatives that is economical to the common users? And as a general user, what do you think would be the impact of this pricing announcement be to you - planning to subscribe to it? PS: The free plan will continue to be there but not sure if it will work due to the current restrictions ;)

Well, Microsoft is behind ChatGPT, there aren't many "large companies", which could compete.

Sure! Waiting for alternatives from Google, AWS, IBM, etc.

I feel a pay-as-you-go pricing model would be great for ChatGPT same as their paid API. And of course, competition is inevitable.
