My startup has grown significantly in the past couple of weeks, which means more onboarding and conversations around our company values! I've personally found companies with strong values have better work environments. πŸ’ Which companies come to mind when you think of strong values, and what values are most important to you?

Shopify (though I know they've just gone through major layoffs). There is such a strong culture of supporting learning and people as individuals, not just as employees.

@brenna_donoghue "Our experiences should give people confidence that they’re capable of achieving their goals, no matter their level of experience." I wouldn't have thought to look up Shopify's values so I'm glad you brought this up! Love companies that encourage their employees to feel empowered in their roles. Reminds me of the Virgin franchise!

I remember on JRE, Marc Andreessen spoke about Coinbase instituting an emphasis on the core values of the company to solve internal instabilities. https://www.linkedin.com/company...

@oscar_wehbe Yes!! Coinbase gets it! "We're stronger together so we choose to focus on what unites us, and not on what divides us." I love it. Thanks Oscar.

Chewy.com. They send handwritten notes to people when pets die or have a birthday. Seems excessive but really gives the brand a human feel. https://www.boredpanda.com/pet-s...

@nicomuoio Whoa, that's amazing. Thanks for sharing! Makes me want to shop there, and I don't even own a pet. Empathy wins every time!

Stripe seems to have a really strong focus on engineering excellence. I have listened to several podcasts from employees there and I got an excellent impression of the culture from listening to them talk about their work.

@beaulieun331 Hey Nick, this sounds really cool! Do you mind sharing a link to that podcast? 😬 A few different options came up when I did a search.

@ericamadly Here is an episode from The Art of Product podcast that I got a lot out of https://artofproductpodcast.com/.... One of my favorite shows for sure.
