Digital Minimalism - The future or unrealistic?

They say the opposite of minimalism is indifference, but the number of apps and services we use for our jobs alone is huge :) We even have apps to tell us to be more mindful and put our phones aside. What do you think - are we at the peak of technology use, or will it increase? And if yes, how?

Its like asking when we were riding horses, Humanity will only evolve

@raju_sivarama_gadiraju that is right. The question remains though: what will it evolve to?

I think it's pretty hard to achieve. I'm using a lot of apps that is making my life easier and some as food for my soul like meditation and music apps. And even if we have less apps - which will have all the functionalities we need and with the same quality - it then becomes some sort of "evil corp" issue where a single company holds ton of information about us. So just in terms of privacy, I think it would raise lot of concerns from the community.

@kartal_erkoc1 interesting point! never thought about it that way

@kartal_erkoc1 You are making a really interesting point. This reminds me of the book "The circle" or "Every". Not a fun world ...

Everything has a phase where we tend to overuse it and then come back to use it for its true purpose
Franziska Kroll
@murali_aasaan I completely agree. Would you say we are already in the overuse phase or is that yet to come?

It's hard to say! I think we've become really dependent on apps and technology, but part of me would love to see a future where we have significantly less screen time!
Franziska Kroll
@catherine_norris I am totally with you. I think the trick is in using apps with intention and being aware of what good real-life experiences we might be missing out on while looking at our screens :)

@catherine_norris super interesting point! It makes me think about how the use of voice-activated tools (aka non-screen tech) and how that’ll shape our future as well (e.g. the use of Alexa and Google Home for “SEO” purposes).
