Definitely not. Two primary reasons: 1. Mastodon is not easy to use or intuitive to get set up with. Too much friction to get rapid, mass adoption. 2. Twitter is a household brand name and people have a lot invested into the platform. A lot of creators have massive platform risk since they can't easily take their followings with them to Mastodon or other platforms

@benjamin_katz2 How about the times where twitter will block all unpaid API's, it would affect small bussinesses.
Nah don't think so - everyone has too much invested into the platform

@conversionrocks I see people find it new alternate for Twitter and upward growing app which makes it attractive for them.

I think its unlikely because even if mastodon became more popular, its part of the fediverse so twitter could include mastodon content into its site. I would love it if more of social media became federated but they have to fix the UX of account system so its as easy as email.

@stagfoo You're very right, Even Blue Sky was in hype in last few days. What's your thought on it?

@neha_khan78 My hope is bluesky will be popular and the account sharing will work well on the @ protocol, if its as easy as google/facebook sign I think we will see a big impact.

No way, it seems boring to install and use, and it would require all of your contacts to move there rather than starting a new community from scratch

@conversionrocks Do you think that Mastadon app need some work on it?

As per Ben Katz below, but largely because it is too siloed and decentralized...a myth apps pursue that is unrealistic,
    Neha Khan
@giles_crouch I know right? I beleive mastadon is not that user friendly but as per rumours twitters is also going to make some amendments in application.

    Possible. Not very likely.

As @maxwellcdavis said, I think people are way too invested in Twitter for a similar product to show up and replace it. As @benjamin_katz2 touched on, it's a brand name - even people that don't use the platform, or any social media, have most likely heard of it and can tell you what it is. Most people I'd say, even hardcore Twitter users, don't know what Mastodon is.

@carter_barnett That's true right! Twitter has set a benchmark where on otherhand people even doesn't know about mastadon
