If dating is not the main moneymaker. Eg. It could be a make friends app with additional dating. You can always make friends so user doesn’t have to quit the app once they find someone.

I'd focus on the friendship and social aspects to avoid direct competition with the big dating apps. Build strong matching and messaging features to help people connect. Then you can add a subtle 'interested in dating' option in user profiles for those open to it. The social foundation keeps people engaged even if they aren't actively looking for dates.
@miasophiawalker I agree that it's difficult to compete against the established dating apps. However, if you don’t create a dating app and instead focus on friendship and social aspects with a subtle "interested in dating" feature, your app might end up becoming just another part of the dating app world. This happened to one of my apps. Based on my experience, I thought maybe it would be better to directly advertise my app as a dating app, rather than positioning it as a social app.
