Do you think 3D tools will become more widespread because of AI tools?

We at Cascadeur try to lower the entry boundary into 3D animation. What do you think? Is it possible that more people will be ready to work in a 3D app and actually move and rotate objects? Or is it too complicated for a wider audience? Would you be scared to try 3D animation as a hobby?

Hi Alina. I think, yes. After the introduction of AR/VR, I noticed some businesses are leveraging 3d and AI to have an edge over the competition. Lenskart, an eyewear brand, for example, implements a 3d way to provide eyewear demos to users in real time just by opening their camera. I guess that wasn't possible without 3d tooling.

More fundamentally, AI enables better storytelling - bring existing ideas to life and inspire new ones. Cascadeur is a good example of that since it automates the tedious parts of animation (the rigging, the skinning, etc). Our AI video platform automates a different part of the process - gathering the stories and linking them to user questions.

Difficult to say, generally 3D tools become more or less widespread thanks to many factors. I think at a big picture level, growth of people using 3D needs some factor pushing people in that direction. I don't see 3D becoming easier as much of a factor here. People generally get into using 3D tools for work or Hobby. New releases tend to cause a bump in users initially, but, after a while that settles down, and its not clear if those who signed up with enthusiasm keep at it once other things occupy them. Also there's the argument that AI could replace people, which ironically could mean that the introduction of tools that make it more efficient could see less people being needed for the same amount of work. Or, it could go the other way and studios get more ambitious (this probably has a ceiling though) taking on larger projects. Larger here could mean many things too. So, hard to say, but thought stimulating to say the least! Thanks for posing the question!
