Do you think that Trump's victory could "fix" the Twitter's downfall?

I found this graphic design by a visual capitalist: Twitter's valuation dropped from $5.7b (2022) to $673m (2024) under Musk's presence. And when Donald and Elon are now frenz, do you think Elon's $44b investment start rising? I can see now many people shifting towards Threads and Bluesky.

lol. x has proven they are the signal. Any valuation by legacy media means nothing.

Very interesting question! 😀But to be honest, I don't know the answer either. It's just that I do feel like I'm being pushed by a media platform! This worries me a little, but what media outlet isn't? It's the same for everyone.

No, I don't think that it will have an impact.

@busmark_w_nika no. As long as there are enough potential Republican followers, it won't. Or let's say "US followers" not just Republicans.

@busmark_w_nika No, is it worth it adding it to the pile of socials i already have?

@busmark_w_nika There's a dirty backstory of how democrats made it 'fall'. Now Twitter is gonna be stronger than ever

Well, if Trump's presence could fix Twitter, it would probably be the most miraculous comeback since MySpace! Given the current trend of users flocking to Threads and Bluesky, I'm skeptical. Maybe Elon should consider "Her Ideal Match" to better understand what users really want!

I mean, not sure how much stock I would put in these arbitrary brand value stats. We learned one thing for sure last night: The media and Reddit are in a bubble X accurately reflected overall American sentiment. They also reached record usage last night.

Heh, Nika, I had the exact same worry! Just a few days ago, my X feed was flooded with nothing but election and NSFW content, and even hitting ‘not interested’ didn’t help. But yesterday, something finally shifted, and I started seeing content I actually wanted.

@dimitri_on_hunt @busmark_w_nika You were too early. It was only you back then. Now there are 4 more people 😅

@busmark_w_nika not really — I'm just hoping to get in early on a new social platform or finally crack the code on the ones we have now :)

@busmark_w_nika let’s move to Bluesky, Nika, and support each other to boost each other up :) Once I’ve got the vibe and persona I’m aiming for, I’ll share my handle with you— if you’re cool with that, of course!

Still, it feels like these platforms are unfair to small accounts; it’s almost impossible to get any real attention, and the only new followers seem to be bots.

Bluesky’s still too ‘green’ in terms of community — haven’t come across many builders there yet.

I agree Nika! I was thinking the same this morning. Twitter usage has declined since Elon bought it (media is saying round 15%) but I'm betting it'll rapidly grow now he's Trump's new bestie. I checked my feed last night (after it was announced Trump had won), & there were 50/50 balanced views (some against Trump, some for Trump, & a lot of Elon's posts winning the top spots in my algorithm/feed.

what is your opinion on Bluesky?

@hijakr_ @busmark_w_nika How about Mastodon? It's very skewed toward the tech community, but checks some of your boxes on decentralization.
