Does building in public work on LinkedIn?

Building in public is the best way to grow on Twitter (X). But does this work on LinkedIn? Here's what I think: It can be a part of your strategy (so you can publish launches, results, failures, success stories, customer testimonials, and your learnings). BUT you should combine this with useful/entertaining content/thought leadership content/content about your category and your market. What do you think? ____ I reached 26K on LinkedIn. 0 outbound. People on LinkedIn aren't much into building in public, but it will help you win the trust of your audience

I Agree with you Olena, but I also feel it adds transparency, builds credibility, and engages your audience by showcasing your journey and expertise.

In France it works a lot! Building in public also means sharing failures and all things that happen to you even those that are not related to success :) Hope to see you in my feed!

I've seen only a few people on LinkedIn... I find LinkedIn is less entrepreneur and more corporate.

Yes I agree. I have found that too frequent posting on Linked In actually gets lower engagement. Twitter it seems hard to grow an audience early on.

definitely need a combination of both and arguably the combination is what constitutes "Building in public" Some examples I've seen: Braden Ream from Voiceflow does it well Dave Gerthardt building his Exit Five community in public Chris Walker built Refine Labs with a lot of thought leadership being posted in public

LinkedIn is great for building in public in front of the white collar folk, but tech/software is much better suited on twitter/insta imo.

You're right, Olena. The Ratcliffe brothers are examples of that, almost everyone knew when they started building their business on LinkdeIn and they are doing very well at it.

Tried LinkedIn but it seems difficult to even find where to start. In twitter its easier to find the like-minded people.

I think people don’t like (as in hit the like button) those kind of posts but they do notice them. The flavor of building in public which might be more relevant to LI might be showing intermediate results maybe with an ironic or funny angle. I personally do enjoy such posts, however I should admit I go to LinkedIn to get updated on the recent developments more.

That's an interesting idea. We are all so focused on Twitter we tend to ignore LinkedIn completely. Worth giving it a shot

Building in public can work on LinkedIn when blended with professional presentation, value-driven content, and engagement. Diversify with thought leadership and industry trends for a well-rounded strategy.

I should try doing it on Linkedin and Twitter because I haven't tried it yet, but it seems to work because a lot of people use this kind of thing. We are really looking forward to the book :)

Absolutely, it demonstrates your expertise, build trust and attract new talents.
I've tried it on LinkedIn and X as well. For me, LinkedIn works better. Tho when I started 1 month ago, I had a LinkedIn audience (around 800 followers, now 1K) and in X no audience (now 60 followers) In X you need to do A LOT to make the wheel spinning. But I believe once it starts spinning, it will pay off

Agreed with you Olena, LinkedIn and X are different, I think it's important to diversify your content on LinkedIn. Need to try bringing more entertaining content too, I think that's a key to set yourself apart.
