We all know you should start marketing before you start building the product, but does it end up hurting the launch setting unrealistic expectations?

Depends on the product and its quality and how much value can it add.. Over hyping a product which is poor quality and adds hardly any value to people will be a blunder.

@amit_arora But I am curious, on how to measure hype vs over hype - Obviously messaging is one area that is a qualitative measure but any quantitative measures would also help a lot.

@laxman_karthik over hype is the bubble which is high likely to burst 😊 and the creator also know that.

Sell the problem your product solves. Relate with users with those problems. Build a community of users with similar problems. Then launch.

@rangarajan_nallappa this is a wonderful idea. Instead of pitching the product, pitch the problem and see how far it resonates! Really good one.
It's like promising a five-star gourmet meal and serving a microwaved dinner – managing hype is key to avoid disappointing your audience! How about we keep the excitement real, like finding the last slice of pizza in the office fridge on a Friday afternoon?
