Has anybody here relaunched a product (v2, v3, etc.)? What works and what doesn't?

When relaunching, does the first launch performance become a benchmark to compare against? Assuming, there is a minimum of a 1-year gap in between the launches and the product has been through significant feature additions & improvements.
