How difficult is it to be successful with Edtech

I've been told by many that education tech is difficult to be successful with. Nonetheless, that's what I'm going for and would love to hear what other's think of it. The target audience is students, and the problem we're aiming to solve is counterprodutive studying by offering personalized tutors and employing study strategies like verbal reasoning and spaced repetition. It's a competitive market and would appreciate any feedback or experiences others may have with this area.
