All creators of saas platforms, how do you offer data analytics or reports to your customers?

Context, we are building an data analytics platform for embedding use case and would love to discuss about the current approaches.

Embed Mixpanel/Amplitude or build custom dashboards with Cube.js if you need more control.

Answer

Mixpanel and Amplitude are good embedded options if you just need basic usage analytics for your users. But if you want to give customers their own customizable dashboards to slice and dice the data how they want, Cube.js on top of your data warehouse gives you way more flexibility and control. More setup work but much more powerful for the advanced use case of customer-facing analytics.

We embed Amplitude for basic product analytics, but also built custom dashboards in Retool to give customers more flexibility to slice and dice the data how they want. Took some dev work but customers love the extra insights!
