How does Product Hunt quality of users work?

Hello! My name is Raul and I'm happy to get more involved in Product Hunt : ) I'm genuinely curious on how the quality/activity of users impacts a launch. I had launched my product sometime ago and I got more upvotes than the 4th product of that day. However when you look at the leaderboard I was really far near the bottom. There were people with 2 upvotes and still above my 140+ upvotes. Even #19 was higher than me on the leaderboard and got a daily score when I was given a blank one. A lot of these other products were super cool and deserve being high on the leaderboards. I'm just wondering what could I have done differently or what rules are there for me to follow that would allow my upvotes to count? or is it another metric?
