Upskilling is extremely important for talented individuals as it allows them to stay ahead of the competition, remain relevant in their chosen field, and develop the skills needed to tackle new challenges. Upskilling can be done through traditional methods such as attending classes, workshops, or seminars, or more modern methods such as taking online courses. In any case, upskilling helps talented individuals remain at the top of their fields!

Unlearning is more important than upskilling, many people operate on ideologies from the past. Everybody can learn, but how many people do you know who take the time to go through how their mind is operating and then identify the weaknesses of their thinking.

@jas801 Correct! To learn something new we have to create space for it and that only comes through deleting the unnecessary memory cookies.

In one word - Most. It is most important for the talented to upskill, otherwise, you are just another person with wasted skills. But what you upskill on is also equally important. Some people just get more certifications and read more books because they feel the "obligation" to do it. Upskilling should be intentional on well researched. Just because everyone is having a SCRUM certification, you don't need one too. Your upskilling should be able to help you with short and long-term goals. Be specific in what you want to do and list down the skills you need to get there. There are thousands of things you wish to upskill for and your time is limited. Prioritization helps a lot.

@veena_p Very detailed and well thought. I like the idea of a well planned upskilling process. Thanks!

I think upskilling is super important β€” both on a personal level (I love learning new things) and as an employee. I think there are few things as motivating as an employer enabling you to building your skillset β€” even if it doesn't directly relate to your current role.

@jonathan_nass So true! I also love when my team mates have more skills necessary for their professional role.

The proverb "A rolling stone never gathers moss" says it all. πŸ˜‰ I believe upskilling has always been important. The really ambitious and eventually succesfull people have always been those with a high learning agility, and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances, acquiring the right skills needed to survive and grow. We've just labelled it in the 21st century and made it a hash tag. 🀷

@geetanjalishrivastava 5 stars for the proverb. Are you a writer?
Geetanjali Shrivastava
@alessandro_canella Haha, thanks! I wouldn't call myself a professional writer, though I did a lot of content writing gigs when I was younger, manage the content for our startup and have been blogging for years.
