How to avoid overdesigning

Overdesigning can manifest itself in different forms: too many colors, fonts, images, text, etc. All this can create a feeling that the design doesn’t have a single concept and doesn’t reflect the goal of the project. To avoid design overload, we recommend following a few simple rules: 1. Focus on the project goal. It doesn't matter what's trending right now. It doesn't matter that you found a cool font. It doesn't matter which animation you personally like. The main mistake of a marketer is to make decisions by himself. Before you start working on a design, determine its purpose and audience. And only on the basis of this, add each element to your site. 2. Make sure that each element is needed. Reread the text, are there any extra words and “white noise"? Is it specific, does it lead to a targeted action? Does the picture you added emphasize the text or does it interfere with it? Ask independent experts or just friends to evaluate your design and tell them what they liked, what they didn't like and why. 3. Keep track of the balance. The design should be balanced and harmonious. Use colors, fonts and images that combine with each other and create a single concept. If the site is balanced, visitors subconsciously feel comfortable. By the way, the site can be at the same time balanced and asymmetrical ;) 4. Use the space. Give the design space to breathe. It is not necessary to fill each pixel with elements, leave some free space so that the design looks more aesthetic.
