How to get the most out of a giveaway?

Hi everyone, a premium content partner of ours gave us 100 free accounts to a premium news site to give away, but we're unsure how to best make use of it. One idea was to reward power users, another was to run an email marketing campaign, or otherwise use it to incentivize new sign ups. Any ideas on how to get the most out of this?
