  • How to market / launch our free trial experience?

We are moving from product demos with sales to now a 7-day free trial (currently soft launched with a marketing campaign planned in 2 weeks). We're continuing to offer custom demos but hope our main acquisition channel will be through the trial experience. Have you done this with success? What tips do you have for getting more people to sign up for the trial?

one of the most important issues for successful free trial; users should be able to opt out (cancel) at any time. Will you offer this opportunity to users?

@cem_ozcelik opt out of the free trial experience? Yes, that’s possible. We don’t require a credit card to start a free trial either.

@cem_ozcelik yes... that a good point i have noticed the same in a few other products too

I think the best approach to free trials which drive conversions to paid plans is to create a dependency between the product and the customer. For that reason I would recommend a longer free trial period so that customer can become familiar with the product and develop a strong feedback loop.

@oscar_wehbe we have considered a 14-day trial, but the time to value is so immediate within the product (it starts with a security or privacy assessment that instantly generates a score & roadmap) that it wouldn't be necessary. I am more interested re: this question in suggestions for marketing the free trial > conversion in product (at this point).

I think you have a few issues with your website and the copy that if you fix might get more people signing up. It will take a bit too long to type everything up, but I think the homepage copy is a bit too vague.

@adeone what do you mean by vague? Not clear on what our product is / what problem it solves?

@amiefinlayson yeah, also some issues with the pricing page being hard to understand. Shoot me a msg on twitter/linkedin and can probably go into more detail on it.
