As remote work becomes more common, many of us are facing new challenges in leading and managing teams from afar.
While there are countless strategies out there, I've come across some tips that seem particularly helpful for me in managing my team
💡 Key Tips for Remote Leaders:
📌 Daily Check-ins: Keep communication flowing
📌 Clear Communication: Explain tasks and duties thoroughly
📌 Use Technology: Leverage tools like Zoom or Teams
📌 Set Communication Rules: Decide how and when to talk
📌 Proper documentation for learning
📌 SOPs
💡 Effective Management Strategies:
📌Focus on Outcomes: What gets done matters more than how.
📌Explain the 'Why': Help the team see the importance of their work
📌Provide Resources: Ensure everyone has the right tools
📌Remove Obstacles: Clear the path to productivity. Try to motivate them so that they can work independently. See them try from 🐛caterpillar to a beautiful butterfly 🦋
💡 Building Team Spirit:
📌Virtual Social Events: Create online spaces for casual interaction
📌Be Understanding: Recognize everyone's home situation is different
📌Show Empathy: Acknowledge the stress of remote work
These tips have helped me navigate remote leadership, but I'm curious about your experiences.
Which of these do you find most crucial? Are there any strategies you'd add to this list?
Let's share our insights and learn from each other's experiences in managing and being part of remote teams.
Your perspective could be incredibly valuable to others facing similar situations.

Usually we make daily meetings to coordinate what we do. That works.

Great question!
Agree with prioritising virtual social events - celebrating achievements is important as part of this
At Marlee, we start by understanding everyone's unique (work style) motivations (we have a motivational analysis/assessment for that)
Understand everyone's communication styles
Foster a positive work culture & harmonious cross-functional collaboration
Setting shared goals & SMART goals for eg
Using the right tools (eg project management, collaboration/performance & comms platforms)
Prioritise inclusion (psychological safety is important)
Prioritise personal development & professional growth for your team
@amit_arora No worries at all! Here's a video that explains it. At 44secs there's a demo. At 1:15secs you can see the motivational analysis questions. There are 40 of them so each human motivation is tested several times:

@emily_willis1 wow, you have explained in a beautiful way, Emily. thanks 😊
how do you understand everyone's unique motivations?
From my experience, it’s essential to foster a sense of belonging in a remote team. I make it a point to celebrate achievements and milestones, even if it’s just a virtual high-five.

@peter_victor this is a beautiful point, Peter. 😊 We have so much list ourselves that we lose appreciating event the smallest achievements. Liked your idea of high-five :)
Social events and celebrating as a team is so important. The toughest part of maintaining a remote team is the lack of engagement which consequently impacts commitment to goals
