Hey Product Hunt Community! I'm super excited to share that my startup is launching next week! This is a big milestone, and I want to make sure we get the word out effectively. I’d love your advice on how to tell reporters about our launch. Here’s a bit of background and what I’m thinking so far: Background: We're Overlap, a professional networking platform that makes it easy to build meaningful connections through warm, double opt-in introductions via email. No apps, no plugins, no spam—just seamless networking that integrates into your daily routine. We've spent a lot of time refining our matching process to ensure that connections are valuable and beneficial for both parties involved. What We’ve Got Planned: • Press Kit: A comprehensive press kit that includes our story, high-quality images, logos, and user testimonials. • Press Release: A compelling press release highlighting our unique approach to professional networking and the problem we’re solving. • Personalized Outreach: Personalized emails to relevant journalists who cover tech, startups, and professional networking. What I Need Help With: • Timing: When is the best time to reach out to reporters? Should I do it a few days before the launch, or is there a specific day/time that tends to work best? • Crafting the Email: Any tips on how to make my email stand out? What key points should I focus on to grab their attention? • Follow-Up: How soon and how often should I follow up if I don’t hear back? I’d really appreciate any insights, tips, or personal experiences you can share. Thanks in advance for your help! Cheers, Joshua

Timing-wise, I'd recommend reaching out to reporters 2-3 days before launch. In your personalized emails, focus on the unique value prop of your product, the problem it solves, and why it matters now. Include a clear CTA to your press kit for more info. Follow up once if you don't hear back after a week. And don't forget about smaller bloggers and newsletters in your niche - they can help spread the word too. Good luck with the launch!
