Is AI some kind of new religion/sect?

Hello everybody,

I had the opportunity a few weeks ago to go with a friend to an event organized around AI with experts in the field.

And at one point, one participant asked: "How he could get his colleagues at his company to finally believe in the potential of AI." We had the funny feeling of being at a meeting of a sect. We even enjoyed classifying the participants between "believers" and "non-believers" according to their speech.

Don't you have that impression too? I think we find this quasi-religious obsession with Web3, Crypto, etc. How would you explain that?

I am looking forward to your opinions on this.
