Is Bluesky another fad or do they have a real chance to succeed?

This project has the ambition to be decentralised.
There is a team of 20 remote workers and over 20 million users.
(The numbers are growing rapidly.)
Do you have Bluesky?
What's your opinion on this platform?

I'm bull on Bluesky. X is failing in the same way myspace failed. It focuses on a niche user group. My space focused too heavily on music and entertainment audience. The same way X is focusing on one side of the political spectrum. 😅

@busmark_w_nika No as always, Im way too early. Get disappointed and miss the actual bull run. And that too early in this context. What was the name again? It's like an elephant Mosqus? No. Mamut? no. Mastadon. that's it. But it's a ghost town TBH. Ghost town syndrome is the biggest problem any product that needs strong network effects has. That's why nothing can compete with Producthunt anytime soon as well, everything else is a ghost town. I think BSky has its moment now, because half of America just feels like they have to do something now after the election. And that's BlueSky. So let's see in a year, how things turned out. I like linkedin atm. Feels more personal. You can talk to anyone there. And they actually reply.

I think it definitely has potential, but like most social networks, it will have to deal with content moderation and all of the challenges with UCG... it's still much more chill to scroll there than Twitter...

@anthony_latona Agree, but moderation is easier than 1 year ago

@busmark_w_nika For sure. Automation has come a long way with moderation... I mean more on the policy side of the platform.
Who gets banned for what and why, where to draw the line... some things are obvious while others may not be. Twitch is a good example too, having years of challenges with what they do and don't allow in their ToS...
My point is that they'll have to figure it all out when they get big enough and it'll be interesting to see how the platform evolves, how they build their algorithm vs threads and twitter and if they add anything that is a clear differentiator which I haven't seen yet.
For me, Bluesky is a chance to start fresh – building a professional circle and holding authentic, interest-based conversations instead of chasing conversions. Networking is always part of the mix, but here it feels more natural. I hope it lasts.
@busmark_w_nika Yes, I’m already on the platform and have followed you 😇. My handle is https://bsky.app/profile/hennrun...
@busmark_w_nika Wow, that's an honour. Thank you, Nika :)
What's your take on Bluesky? Do you think it will make it?

@hennrunnel if many people stay active, so yes. It could have potential.
They definitely have a real chance to succeed and aren't just a fad. Bluesky is focused on solving the critical issues around centralized social media control and lack of interoperability. By building a decentralized protocol, they can enable a more open and competitive social media landscape. The AT Protocol they're developing has serious technical chops behind it. If executed well, Bluesky could be a gamechanger in social media.
I think Bluesky has a real chance. Social networks that focus too narrowly on one niche eventually lose broad appeal. Look at how X is struggling now by catering heavily to only one side of the political spectrum. Bluesky seems to be taking a more open, decentralized approach to avoid those pitfalls and build something with greater staying power. I'm optimistic about their future!
Hi Nika, nice topic.
The project success will always depend on users' activity, but imho, I think that it's a good platform to explore.
Yes. Over 20 million users, and I was #2,783,724! 🎉 See you there 🕵️♂️
