Is personalized email marketing all about adding names to the title?

Hello community,
I'm curious about effective personalized email marketing. I often receive emails with my name in the subject line, but the content feels generic, almost like a placeholder. Could you share your tips for improving personalized emails?
Thanks!

I feel your pain with those "generic" personalized emails. It's like they're trying to win us over with just our name in the subject line. 🙄 I think an effective email marketing campaign now should focus more on the reader. You can try to segment your email list based on different interests or behaviors. It's time to send them stuff they actually care about!

@tra_dao_004 can you please elaborate on the segmentation? Lets say I created a waiting list where prospects leave their email to be updated later. How to segment those emails, or prospects, without knowing about them? And people are usually reluctant to share more info than an email during wait listing!

Not in 2023.
Name in the subject line is old news. Personalization in email depends on who your audience is, what your brand wants to convey and what your product is.
Tip 1: Determine what your audience needs or wants to hear from you. What data do you have on your audience that could help you give them what they want?
Tip 2: Don't personalize just to personalize
Tip 3: Don't be creepy. Empathize with your audience. If you and the people you know would feel like the amount of personalization would be too much, it probably is.
