Is SEO worth the money?

SEO is worth the investment due to the long-term benefits it provides. Deciding on a reliable SEO service is essential as quality varies, and the success rate is higher with a reputable provider. They can design an organic strategic plan specifically for your business's success. SEO, similar to any other service, offers value proportional to what you pay. Hence, quality-focused SEO companies are worth the investment. https://www.kwrds.ai Follow https://www.producthunt.com/products/kwrds-ai

The answer is nuanced… There are a TON of small businesses out there that are being absolutely fleeced by shady SEO agencies that are not delivering anywhere near enough ROI. The problem is, it's hard for business owners to figure this out efficiently because of the long-term nature of SEO. It's like realizing your retirement advisor is bad—it'll take a while. In my research, the SEO agencies who can deliver the most compelling metrics (meaning they can actually tie their effort to revenue) are the ones that have the highest margins and lowest churn.

@bensyverson well said. I feel it's quite hard to measure progress as SEO takes time and changes might require weeks/months to show results. I would love to see if you or anyone you know has a more deterministic way of predicting efficiency

@mkotsollaris It can be hard to tease apart and show clear attribution to SEO, especially if the agency is also working on PPC or social. But I've seen successful examples of agencies overlaying ranking charts with inbound volume (or bookings, etc) to draw the connection.

Great question! SEO is definitely still worth the investment, but it's important to approach it strategically. With the rise of the zero-click trend—where users get their answers directly from search engine results without clicking through to websites—traditional SEO strategies are evolving. Now, it’s about optimizing for featured snippets, knowledge panels, and other SERP elements that capture attention and build brand visibility without necessarily driving clicks. Investing in SEO can still drive organic traffic, but the focus is shifting towards building authority, enhancing brand presence, and targeting long-tail keywords where users are more likely to click through. So, while SEO is still valuable, adapting to these trends will help make the investment more effective.

I’d say SEO is definitely worth the money, especially when approached strategically. The way I see it, SEO provides long-term benefits by building a foundation that brings in organic traffic even after the initial work is done. It’s also an opportunity to reach an audience who’s actively searching for what you offer, which often leads to higher-quality leads and conversions. That said, I believe SEO should be both transparent and measurable. That’s why we built Zappit AI—to give businesses a clear view of how their SEO efforts are paying off. It’s about more than just boosting rankings; it’s about tracking the impact of each move and adapting to trends like zero-click searches and featured snippets. In the end, investing in SEO is investing in sustainable growth.

It worth 10x in my domain (local SEO) but other business models like affiliate marketing and blogging, it's about to vanish.

@davejack4 this is a great observation. I love how local and global SEO are completely different right!
