Is there an “uncanny valley” effect with startup MVPs

Saw this come up on Hacker News (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=31567345) and thought it would be worth sharing here.
There might be something to it. It made me think that you want to get their attention and pull them in, but don't give them everything so their initial thoughts are answered and they move on.
Anyway, it's more thought than I've ever previously given a landing page (thankfully it's not my job 🙈).

yes, i wouldnt waste your time. Its not the same as it used to be. Coming from an ex-YC and other founders that mentioned the same thing. It's a blackhole/shot in the dark. You have better chances doing SEO on high traffic sites, instead of being stuck in the middle of the noise there.
