    I am looking at launching my first product soon, a productivity system called Focused. I have created all of the socials for Focused, but now I am thinking should I rebrand them to my own social accounts instead. I currently don't have any social media accounts (personal ones) so I would be starting from scratch either way. Is it better for a startup to use personal socials or a branded company one? What does everyone else use?

    100% grab the business name while it's still available + begin aging your accounts (will be more favoured by the algo once they mature a bit) In your case, I would recommend going with the personal account first. It's a bit easier to grow, plus, you won't have to start over if you decide to launch another product. And instead, maybe collect emails to stay in touch with your core audience Once you gather a bit of following via email or gain more resources to outsource business socials, you can consider adding business accounts to the scope

    @luca3927 yep! older accounts generally seem more trustworthy as most bot account are created and used straight away. Also, Google has similar logic for websites - for about 6 months a new website usually won't rank as well and then there's often a significant boost

    Hi Luca, I'd highly recommend setting them up as "business name" social media accounts. Do your research & try to get the same @ name on all social media platforms (even if you're not going to use them at the first launch - if you don't, someone else will & you'll have to negotiate to buy them back in the future).     @emily_willis1 thanks Emily for all the info! I currently have all the socials with my handle being focusednotion (same as my website), so Iā€™ve done that at least šŸ¤£. I just wasnā€™t sure which I should use for the initial launch. From the research I have done and seen what others do itā€™s mixed. I do see the advantages on both sides.

    @luca3927 aaagh yes it depends on your strategy (who you're targeting, what channels you're using, what you're messaging is, goals, how you're measuring success etc etc) but given you have no followers, in order to get your community over there you'll need to post the content from your official channel & then share from your personal channels. Every social channel is different. eg LinkedIn gets better engagement from personal accounts, so post on the brand page but share, engage, comment, @ mention from your personal account & do your outreach/community engagement from your personal account.

    Personally for me, I like engaging with founder posts more than company posts. If your content is personal, compelling, thought-provoking and insightful that revolves around growing your business and showcases it's value, you'll see more engagement and grow an audience that eventually turn into leads. Company posts are great for learning more about product features, product roadmap, exciting company news, etc...

    @kristan_salessubs yeah that is a great point. Personal posts are also more relatable I find, rather than company posts which are more marketing in nature. Thanks for the feedback!
