Should the UK adopt the same Hiring and Firing Policies as the US?

In the US, you could be fired and told to pack your bags without any prior warnings and disciplinaries. In the UK, there is a very long procedure before anybody can be legally fired (unless there was gross misconduct of course) This is a very employee vs employer question...

My background: - I work for a French SaaS company - My partner works for a British company - I only know US policies by reputation Now, my answer :) From my French perspective, the idea of easily switching companies feels quite strange. From an employee's point of view, I find it a bit stressful, especially when others (often kids) depend on you. From an employer's point of view, doesn’t easy firing lead to wasted time in recruitment? It seems like it might encourage a "let’s try this one and see" approach. Also, do all employees leave behind a structured process folder for the next person? If not, employers must spend time explaining and training the new hire. I know employees are well protected in France, but I feel this also benefits employers. What do you think? :)
