Cons:
- expensive 1000$ every year to upgrade ๐ธ
- phone addiction ๐
- lockin everywhere. ๐ฎโโ๏ธ
AI wearable:
Pros:
- Freedom of not being addicted to your phone ๐ง๐ผโโ๏ธ
- There are no ads anywhere. ๐ข
- When you prompt, your mind expands ๐คฏ.
Cons:
- First batch still requires a phone to tether with โ๏ธ
- Waiting for good standalone AI wearables is going to take a few years. โณ
- You have to talk out loud. But maybe, indoors you are on your computer anyway? ๐ฉ๐พโ๐ป
Ohh. And be sure follow "tap" the first extremely capable and low-cost AI wearable https://www.producthunt.com/products/tap-11 its reallllly cool! only 400 will be sold in the first batch!

AI wearables seems like a curse to me :-)
You will always have it, even when you surf!
Too difficult to disconnect with those

@martinratinaud Haha. Like the genie in the bottle ๐งโโ๏ธ. Every wish is a curse ๐
Augmented Reality 2021
What timeframe are we talking? Ultimately, I think, wearables will win.
Augmented Reality 2021
@sentry_co I'm definitely thinking 5+ years... (Or what does "win" mean? haha)
@danischenker We have a believer ๐! TBH. I don't even know. It's interesting to hear what the maker community here on PH think. Timeframes are hard. Could be this summer could be 5 years from now. This stuff is moving so fast! I feel I want to be more connected with my friends when I'm out and about, and "offloading" info tasks to an AI so I can keep my connections with my friends seems like utopia to me. When I dive into my phone to check something the connection is broken sometimes. My friends dive into their smartphone and then we sit there, not being present in the moment. ๐
@danischenker Software era: M$, Apple. Internet era: goog, meta. AI era: Rabbit, Humane, tap? ๐

I think the way it will go is for the first couple years tethered โ๏ธ AI wearables will be the move, but building on that they will become more and more capable to stand alone, โ๏ธthe first apple watch I believe relay'ed to your iPhone a lot and processed stuff there, Now you can buy an AW with cellular and leave your phone behind..๐โโ๏ธ
@maxjacobs Ohh. Idea: Water proof AI wearable. I wonder if the AI can decipher snorkel talk. ๐ Someone should work on models for that. ๐คฟ
I personally like both. I do hate seeing people walking down the street looking at their phones. I'd much rather have a wearable for finding directions, listening to emails and messages being read to me instead of me reading them while I'm out and about. But I do like watching videos, images and browsing stuff on my phone too. So ideally I'd have both :-)
@simona_o_neill3 What about like, one is for out and about, and one is for chilling. Chilling device could be an iPad? Or even a remarkable if you want to go totally zen ๐ง
@sentry_co Could be :-)
Love the wearables and agree with your points but the performance and versatility of a large screen is irresistible IMO
@daniel_mullins1 Dat versatility when LLMs get more context memory. ๐ฌ Time will tell how this plays out tho. I can't ive begin to understand what this will be like in a few years. It's exciting tho! Living in an era of radical change. or it could peak. Futurists predicted we would be driving in nuclear cars by now, that never happened ๐
@sentry_co I love romanticizing about the future. This Cambrian explosion of innovation put the whole thing on 10x speed. also, "time will tell" I hope that was a pun on wearables.
@daniel_mullins1 Haha. I missed that pun! Good catch!
I might be wrong but I don't see AI wearables taking off. I find it easier to perform tasks through touching the screen rather than talking out loud. Any task that requires a degree of customization where dexterity of your hand will triumph multiple attempts at communicating with an AI will be done using the smartphone only. Also you get a visual confirmation of the task being performed correctly. For e.g. if I order an Uber I can confirm it is arriving precisely where I am standing and not a little here and there which will make coordinating with the driver later difficult.
@aneesh_arora But didn't we say that with feature phones when smartphones emerged. Feature phones are so much better, they have a keyboard, they have more features, the screen doesn't get finger prints etc. Isn't this the same mind trap we shouldn't repeat? I mean I was the same. I did not believe smart phones would be better than feature phones. And I agree with you now. That what we use today is so much better than this new thing that's coming. But I feel that's the fallacy I'm walking into again ๐ The future is hard to understand sometimes ๐

From a productivity perspective getting rid of phones and replacing them with AI wearables is best
Most of the things i need the screen for can be done on my laptop anyway. And the interactions through the AI wearable would be a lot quicker and more convenient
I can't imagine having another tech on me to care for because I'm constantly leaving my phone and apple watch at home.
I need one device that takes care of everything. It's getting harder to keep up with all the gadgets
@ashley_from_shadow I have the same mindset conundrum. I do think as someone pointed out in this post. We are in a Cambrian explosion ๐ฅ. Things will change radically.
Launching soon!
Smartphones are like that old reliable friend who always has your back with a screen to watch pictures on and tons of apps, but that yearly $1000 upgrade can feel like a commitment. On the flip side, AI wearables offer the freedom of breaking phone addiction and no pesky ads, but we're still waiting for the standalone versions to fully take over. In this tech smackdown, who will claim the championship belt? ๐ฑ๐๐ค #TechRumble
@thestarkster Love it! The bots are in town # meta ๐
