https://www.similarweb.com/blog/insights/ai-news/stack-overflow-chatgpt/ Personally I'm using it far less now after getting addicted 😅 to cursor.so and GitHub Copilot chat.

Yeah I'm sorry for SO especially because I'm sure most of the code ChatGPT is giving comes from them

I use ChatGPT, which has greatly reduced my reliance on Google and Stack Overflow by approximately 99% and 80% respectively. When I need to write a new class, I start by writing a detailed technical description that includes the necessary APIs or libraries to use, along with fields, parameters, and variables and names of methods, and then send it to ChatGPT. This approach has been quite successful. However, when dealing with domains that I'm unfamiliar with, it is less effective and requires testing after each iteration. And for researching recent changes in documentation and APIs, I use perplexity.ai!

@serge_neskoromny I never heard about perplexity.ai - looks interesting! what does it do better than chat gpt 4?

@sentry_co It can access data on the internet, including the news. Additionally, it provides working links to the documentation and all the sources for the information it has, which actually works. ChatGPT often gives you broken links.

@ranjanrishikesh The GitHub Copilot chat beta or regular copilot?
Rishikesh Ranjan
@sentry_co I don't use the chat feature very much. Just the regular Copilot.

GitHub Copilot ended up being more of a hinderance for me personally. I would trust it to autocomplete something correctly but it would always cause bugs 😭

@entreeden I tried GitHub Copilot too early. It was not very useful 4 months ago. But 1 month ago they opened up GitHub Copilot chat. Which is something totally different than what it was in the beginning.

@sentry_co oooh i didn't know about that, i'll check that out thanks for sharing

I started using SO less. I am using AI more and more
Totally. Iterating on errors with GPT4 is - especially now with browsing enabled - something insanely helpful. I believe I went from using SO several times a day to a few times a month

@gabriele_mazzola Hopefully SO doesn't become a graveyard, what will the AI get their answers from then? 😅
André J
@gabriele_mazzola And what do you mean browsing enabled?
@sentry_co If you use GPT4 you can enable browsing (by clicking on the model in the top bar of the UI) and then the model is able to perform Bing searches based on your prompts to find relevant info.
