    Who so you think is a more effective Founder? Any bright examples? Ps: No Steve jobs plz!

    In my experience, tech guys tend to be bad at marketing and sales. And often they make good products, but they don’t know how to sell them. Therefore, in my opinion, the most effective combination of technical and non-technical (one who knows how to sell).

    Effective? what do you mean by effective? both are important, but it's different for a SAAS product and a trip planner

    @mahsimadastan a founder is effective only when he/she is able to lead the org in difficult times. Effective can have multiple meanings but non effective is just one - one who is judgemental without being rational.

    Depends on the product or category of wares, I would think you could find a good leader with and without the tech background. Leadership and decision making means hiring those below you who understand the subject matter and deferring to their expertise for the leaders' unknowns. However, in extremely technical circumstances, such as bleeding-edge tech like Quantum limit computing or theoretical physics research and development, I would think you would tend to need a founder with the technical background who understands the extremes. Other than those small niches, I think you can find an effective founder with either.

    @reconcatlord i am with you Nick. Only thing to add is a Founder should be someone who can sustain more failures and should be the most sane person when things go wrong. Whether tech or non tech, founders carry the vision forward.

    Hey Raju, I think it really depends on the industry and the specific qualities of the founder. Tech founders like Bill Gates (Microsoft) and non-tech founders like Oprah Winfrey (OWN) have both shown incredible effectiveness in their respective fields. The key is having a clear vision, adaptability, strong leadership, and industry understanding. Each founder brings unique strengths to the table. Hope you get it. :)
