Telling personalized story about your product

Hi folks, I am working with my co-founder to create an online presence for our product. He suggested investing time and money in telling our brand story, as well as product story. An interact chat platform where customers can ask questions about how our product is made, sourced, environmental impact or etc. I disagreed with it. I don't see a point, but maybe I am wrong. Any pointers?
