Point 8 is the most important to me. We were using PHPList to send newsletters manually made with MJML to our users, but it was a painful process, so despite the fact that every newsletter sent results in increased sales, we where not sending quite often. On the other side, existing tools like Mailchimp, Sendinblue... were oversized for our usage (just need a logo, slogan, an hero image, a text, a CTA button, and a proper management of unsubscribes) , and not that easy to use. So we made our own internal tool based on AWS SES to create, send and track our newsletters and are now sending at fixed frequency which is quite important. We recently converted this internal tool to a SaaS product called Mailzy, and launched it yesterday on PH : https://www.producthunt.com/post... Send not too often, but regularly.

I would add no middlemen between you and your customer AND independence from other parties to maintain your relationship. With email you are closer to your customer in my opinion :)

@bakemono @edun_kerry Great points. However building an email list with genuine users takes time. When you are just starting out promoting your product, putting a middle man in between may actually be better and give all the benefits @edun_kerry pointed to. I am building for just that. - https://www.producthunt.com/upco...
