  • Thoughts on Twitter rebrand? Also, do you call it X or Twitter still?

Personally, I have mixed feelings about it. 1. Disregard for distinctive assets The Twitter name and the logo are some of the most recognizable symbols in the world. The users have a long history and an emotional attachment to these assets. Getting rid of them is like throwing away your kid’s favorite toy. 2. Timing Timing is crucial, Twitter already received backlash after the changes Ellon Musk implemented. For some, it was simply stripping Twitter away of its fundamental qualities, and now taking away the iconic logo and name can seem like a whim of a bored billionaire. 3. X is a terrible name Many people will argue that X is a terrible name, it lacks creativity, it’s not unique, and some might even say lazy. Interesting how another company with the same owner has a very similar X in their name (SpaceX?) BUT This can also turn out to be a huge success story, so far Elon Musk has been extremely successful with his not-so-safe and outside-of-the-box decisions and ideas. Twitter hasn't been profitable in a while and it seems like Elon is trying to turn into a Western version of WeChat. A platform that will encompass everything, from social media to payments to buying concert tickets and ordering cabs. In this term, X makes sense, since he will be reaching a new audience and people won't get confused associating "the bird" with simply Twitter things. I guess we shall wait and see. Curious to hear your thoughts.
