I've had great success using video. I send community members a personal video to welcome them to the community and I find that it helps them feel more comfortable engaging.

Ravi, I just joined your community so let me answer this one.

I've joined many communities and left. The majority of them are about self-promotion. Nothing worthwhile is going on in the community.

Everybody wants to promote but just promoting and never coming back again is something challenging. How will you engage with them that's what matters.
