Turning listicles into videos

Last month, we got four clients organically from YouTube. The post? A video listicle. 👀
So, let's talk about listicles.
First things first, let's address the elephant in the room. 🐘
Every time you read a listicle on best x "name your industry here" tools, 8/10 times, the company publishing the listicle is the company that's featured in the first result.
It's not really genuine, but it works.
Almost all of our organic leads come from listicles we write where we position ourselves on the first spot.
We, of course, choose listicle topics where positioning ourselves at the top is something we believe in.
For example, for spokesperson video production, it's hard to find an agency that specializes in spokesperson videos, where they have actors available instantly and can do a high-quality job at a fraction of the cost.
We also try to find the most relevant companies for the 2nd,3rd,4th.. spots to actually provide value.
But here's the thing: ranking on Google with listicles is HARD!
Even in our video production industry, it's hard to rank.
For industries like productivity, dev tools, and any other competitive SaaS field, it's so much harder to secure a spot on Google for your "best x tool" keyword.
So here's the alternative- turn your listicles into videos. ✨
Here are five reasons.
1. It's much easier to share your product in a visual way and to make your case for why your product deserves to be in the top spots.
2. It's also a lot less competitive. It's unlikely that your competitors are creating these kinds of videos.
3. Google pushes these types of videos in the search results so you can rank with your videos on Google.
4. You probably have the listicle already written, so you have 80% of the script ready to go.
5. A lot of people prefer to consume this type of content as videos. It's a lot more visual and harder to fake.
You can find our video listicle here:

As you can see this type of content doesn't really have super impressive views, but the audience is super relevant.
An interesting find for this video - the video has an average watch time of 1:30 minutes. Meaning that people stop after the first option, which is us.
That's probably the reason why we got so many leads from this video.

Here’s another example of SaaS by the people at DPM. This video has 24k views which is awesome for a B2B-ish topic.
