There are so many ways users can login into products now. Here is a short list of the ones I know of but interested to hear thoughts on which is the best and why? - Username/password - Gmail - Social (Facebook seems to be most used?) - Magic link - Username / get access code emailed

Gmail for me, easiest to use and even with multiple options I navigate towards it. Username/password comes in second.

@stelofo gmail is a good option. The only issue we found is that if a user doesn’t use gmail, need at least one other option. But leads to another question, do you think a product needs multiple login methods?

@justin_govy first I wanted to say hard yes. But I remembered that the product I'm working on, Hardcover, only has email and password and it worked just fine for 3k+ users so far. So I guess no 😂

Personally, I like magic link. Put in my username, get a link emailed, click the link and boom logged into the first page.

@justin_govy Me too. It really feels like magic! Plus, it removes the uncertainty of multiple choice models where I end up unsure if I originally used Google, Facebook, Apple, or a username. Just the other day, I ended up creating a new account for a product because I picked the wrong one.

@maria_hagsten yes! The multiple account thing is big. Which is actually why I wanted to hear other thoughts because we’re going to try and just stick with one login method to avoid the duplicate accounts. Been dealing with some user issues because of that exact reason.

I frequently using gmail & username. Currently, I'm using a magic link to login.

@ridho_tijan Another for magic link! But good ol fashioned username or gmail also work. Thanks for the input.

Magic link for the seamless login/signup journeys.
