Elon Musk and a few others want to halt AI development for 6 months I feel like this is an effort for them to catch up on their own AI projects What do you think?

I really like that GPT3 has made and exited about the version 4. But thinking back version after version those AI are becoming more and more powerful and sometime too powerful. Everyone is excited about the version 4 but at version 5 our 6 will you get replaced by the AI, will your friends and family will lose their jobs. One of my friends recently got his photography diploma, and I how him what AI can do. Looking at that midjourney was able to do make his job one of the first to be replace. I believe entrepreneurs job is fine from being replaced by AI , but when making a presentation towards potential customers we will soon hear things like «I'm not interested purchasing your technology I can just ask the AI to make it for me». Maybe that will be the new reality.

I think it is a time window to inform states and societies. So they can get prepared for what's coming. Otherwise, there will be massive unemployment.

It's not gonna stop unless it comes straight from the government bodies.

@uma_venugopal 100% It's about as useless as a change.org petition lol

I can't see anything stopping AI at this point. I also agree, their (petitioners) concerns are questionable.

It can't be stopped, people are too deep into and new apps are getting created by the second using this technology. As far as people fearing losing their jobs, they need to run into the fire and embrace the technology. Figure out how it can make you better and leverage the tech to your benefit. The same way you can't stop it, if you try to run from it, it will run you over.

Halting for 6 months only gives those people time to compete and build there own. AI is here to stay and I doubt their concerns are sincere.
Richard Gao
@timesaverhacks Yep, either that or to stifle the competition
