What has been your experience with Linkedin Newsletters?

I have been running a Newsletter hosted on my own domain for a while now. But Linkedin has been repeatedly nudging me towards setting up a newsletter. I'm guessing the advantage of the platform would be that distribution would be much easier, but then there would be no control of the database in anyway. Is there anyone here who has grown a subscriber base on Linkedin for their newsletter and the learnings, if any?

I thought about doing one on LinkedIn as well. Decided not to because the platform is not very creator friendly in general. Felt like a bad fit from the start lead to continued uphill battles. Setup on a different platform instead personally. Might be better for you I'm not sure. Hopefully it works out!

@darwin_binesh Where do you run your newsletter and if you'd be kind enough to share your membership numbers, it would be a good learning.

@vijayanands I use beehiiv - I can share numbers after I go live just ping me!

Linkedin Newsletters are hard to discover and feels overwhelming. I'd rather go the Email or Subsstack newsletter route.

@vijayanands Vijay, you have a follower base of over 600K :) I think the biggest problem is not having access to the email/user list. Would be good to promote your alternate platform such as Telegram Group or any community to have a fall back.

@varun_krishnan1 I feel it is the other way around. People spend a lot of time on Linkedin, and the platform is pushing content right in front of them. In less than 2 days of setting up the newsletter, I have 48,000 subscribers. So discovery doesnt seem to be the issue (clearly). Im trying to find out what the downside is from someone who has run a newsletter on the platform, so that I dont have to make the same fatal mistakes.

@siddhartha_dange Can you elaborate? How many subscribers did you manage to attract and what was the retention / open rates?
