What's your favourite acquisition channels for a VERY early stage SaaS?

Which "non-scalable" channels have you been able to leverage the most to acquire your first 10 or 100 users? 
I've found Slack Channels to be very effective if used properly, but I would be curious to know of others' experiences.

we used cold dms via Instagram in our early days, about 1 sign up per 15 or so. (Twitter would be more appropriate for you US folks) - but it really depends on your target market and ideal persona.

To be honest it's much easier if you have an existing base to call from - friends, etc. Having an audience beforehand helps a lot. Or go make friends with someone who has an audience that can benefit from your solution.
